There is an old saying "Without pain there is no
gain" I believe that I would be lying if I said their was no pain in
training for a Marathon.
2006 training program went something
like this;
When I started out training around two weeks
after Christmas 2005 it was hard work, getting moving to a Jogging pace, all I could manage was
one mile each day for the first week, six days a week.
I told myself that I was going to increase my distance by 1 mile
each Monday. which I did.
I also set myself another personal challenge I would stop
drinking alcohol and avoid the excesses of Christmas, which is exactly what I
did.
The Mind - Applying
ones mind and focusing on the reason why you are running is vitally important.
Trust me when I say this, when you have undertaken a training run of 26k on a
regular basis you need more of a reason than it makes you look good.
Cross Training I find
that combining Running, Cycling, Weights and Swimming is good for me and my
Marathon Training.
The Body - Keeping
my body in perfect running order is vitally important, forget takeaways, sweets,
creams cakes etc, think and live a healthy lifestyle and you will find that
keeping fit and healthy is much easier
Diets - Forget
diets, they are for weak minded people who cannot control their eating habits,
after six weeks of running and working-out I had lost 1stone and 7lbs in weight,
I look in the mirror and feel very proud at what I have achieved.
A Personal View - I
look good, I feel good, my mind is positive and functioning at its optimum
level, my businesses are at their peak performance something never known before.
Thank you to the charity that allowed me to run my first Marathon for
your charity, thank you all other charities who have allowed me to run on their
behalf.
Remember - all of
you vain and trendy people out their, the people who have never considered
running a Marathon, your bodies will look really good after just six weeks of
Marathon training.
Your body starts to go back to how it was looking
when you where a teenager
