The Police Dependants' Trust

Supporting such a valued organisation is very important to me, without a determined and efficient Police force anarchy would thrive, Law and order would cease to be and daily life for the population as a whole would be exceedingly stressful.

The men and women of the Police force have a challenging and difficult task whilst carrying out their duties, when they come to harm they deserve all of our support in whatever way one can achieve.

When a Policeman or women is injured maimed or even killed in the line of duty they and their loved ones need all the support we can give them. My personal contribution by way of including the Police Dependants Trust as one of the organisations to be beneficiaries of my forthcoming Caribbean Property Charity Auction is just one way of saying,

Keep up the good work

It is a privilege for me to be able to offer support for the Police Dependants' Fund by way of my Caribbean Property Charity Auction.

Without such an highly skilled and efficient Police Force many people would suffer during emergency situations, to the Police I applaud all those men and women who in many instances put their lives and personal safety at risk in order to protect the public.

Just because one Police force has a fancy Police car it does not mean Police dependant's get the same

The Trust was set up following the murder by armed criminals of three police officers at Shepherds Bush in 1966. The late Sir William Bultin, at the time anonymously, gave £100,000 for the establishment of a trust to help in cases where police officers were killed or injured on duty. Public reaction to the crime was such that the fund soon increased to more than £1/4 million.

The Police Dependants' Trust was formally constituted by the signing of the Trust Deed on 21 December 1966 and registration with the Charity Commission in January 1967.

The Trust is honoured with the patronage of HM The Queen.

Shortly after the formal establishment of the Trust, an appeal was launched to raise £1 million to ensure sufficient income to help existing and future beneficiaries. The appeal was successful but growing demands on the trust make it necessary to continue building up the Trust's resources to provide for future requirements.

OBJECT AND SCOPE OF THE Police Dependants' Trust

The object of the Trust, stated in the Trust Deed, is " to assist in cases of need:

a.  dependants of police officers or former police officers who die or have died… as a result of an injury received in the execution of duty;

b.  police officers or former police officers who are, or have been…incapacitated as a result of an injury received in the execution of duty, or dependants of such officers".

The Trust covers members of all police forces in the United Kingdom, as defined in the Police Act 1964 and the Police (Scotland) Act 1967, officers on overseas or central service who have statutory reversionary rights, special constables and police cadets.

In 1981, the Charity Commissioners sealed a scheme to enable Trustees to make grants to charities which have as their object the relief of sickness or mental or physical disabilities of police officers or former police officers, should income remain in any year after the primary purposes of the Trust have been satisfied.

Trust investments are regulated by the trustee Investment Act 1961.

My Personal tribute to the Police Dependants Trust

I shall be making available 2 Family Caribbean holidays for the Police Dependents Trust to be able to use the holidays to either hold their own Christmas Charity Auction or Prize draw in order to raise much needed funds to help those officers and their families who have been a victim of injuries whilst carrying out their duties as Police officers.
