Sri Sumantindarama Buddhist temple

(Rajamaha Viharaya)

& Sadananda Pirivena

(Buddhist School)

Support for the  development and construction of a Buddhist School is very important, the objectives of this school are different from other schools because most of the young students they accept into the school are a mix of homeless, abandoned parentless and other young people throughout Sri Lanka.

Sri Sumantindarama Buddhist temple (Rajamaha Viharaya) and Buddhist school (Sadananda Pirivena) are located at Doranagoda in Gampaha district Western region in Sri Lanka is an ancient temple built during the rein of king Devanampiyatissa 236-180 B.C.

Sadananda pirivena, the Education Institution for monks as well as boys attached to this temple was establishment in 01.01.1891 by Most Ven. Giridara Ratanajoti Maha thero. At present 45 monks and 26 boys coming from various parts of Sri Lanka are staying at the school. We supply their hostel facilities, electricity, water, foods, cloths, medicine, school material and education in this institution.

The buildings for the monks and dining hall in this institution are more than 100 years old and in a dilapidated condition, unfit for human habitation. Due to the lack of funds available in this area, at the moment it has been impossible to construct sufficient buildings to accommodate the student population of the institution.

Now with the support of myself and La Reserve Club our aim is to ensure that this school is not only maintained to a good standard but also the school is expanded to allow more students to enter its doors and to ensure that its good work continues for the next 100 years.
